Card number
16 digits16 digits on the front of the card, grouped as 4-4-4-4. If the digits are embossed, read carefully — 8 and 3 look similar under certain light.
Expiry date

Security code (CVV)

Troubleshooting
Common Mastercard issues & fixes
Card not activated at checkout
If the clerk forgot to scan the activation bar, the card will show no balance. This happens more than you'd expect at self-checkout. Bring your receipt and the card back to the original retailer.
Declined online even though the balance is enough
Many online merchants require an AVS (address verification) match. Register the card to a billing address at the issuer's website (URL is on the back) and use that address at checkout.
Split payment not accepted
Some merchants don't allow using a gift card plus another payment method in one transaction. If the gift card is less than the order total, try a different merchant or reduce the order.
Balance looks stuck
Pending authorizations can take 1–7 business days to drop off. The balance you see here is the live available amount; pending holds temporarily reduce it.
